Love Is In The Water This Valentine’s Day

Proposal

Pulses are racing at The Bear Grylls Adventure this Valentine’s Day, and not just from sprinting through the Royal Marines-inspired Assault Course! Thrill-seeker Jorden Guest has chosen to add an additional adrenaline boost to the big question, by deciding to propose to his partner Vicky during his Shark Dive adventure this Valentine’s weekend.

With Jorden in the attraction’s custom oceanarium and unsuspecting fiancé-to-be Vicky watching from outside the water, Jorden got down on one knee beneath the tank’s Megalodon jaws and held up a sign asking the all-important question.

The couple,  who live in Worcestershire, met just before the first lockdown in March 2020 after being set up by a mutual friend. After moving in together as not to be parted like many couples were over the pandemic, the pair have been inseparable ever since, prompting Jorden to take the extra step and pop the question this Valentine’s Day.

Jorden said:

“Vicky gifted me with a Shark Dive experience at The Bear Grylls Adventure for Christmas, and I instantly knew this would be the perfect opportunity to ask her to marry me. I’m a massive shark and diving fan, and thought it would be really cool to incorporate this into my proposal. The whole experience has been equally exciting and nerve-wracking, but I’m glad the team at The Bear Grylls Adventure have been able to help me make this happen.”

This isn’t the first time that The Bear Grylls Adventure has found itself at the centre of a love story. The attraction hosted its first wedding last year, when diving fans Lisa and Chris exchanged their vows underwater, with the habitat’s resident animals as the guests of honour, and friends and family watching the union from outside the tank’s window.

Marc Bell, General Manager at The Bear Grylls Adventure, said:

“We pride ourselves on making magical memories for our guests at The Bear Grylls Adventure, and it’s a great honour to have been a part of such a special moment for Jorden and Vicky. What a memorable moment to have! From myself and all the staff at The Bear Grylls Adventure, we wish them both all the best for their future together.”

Home to almost 1,000 creatures, including Blacktip Reef Sharks, Nurse Sharks and Cownose Rays, The Bear Grylls Adventure’s custom display allows guests to take the plunge into a new underwater world, exploring the unique environment inhabited by these beautiful creatures.

Wedding packages are available at the attraction, with prices starting from just £1500, and private hire for parties or functions also available. Those looking for a unique venue are encouraged to get in touch with the attraction’s specialist team to discuss bespoke packages, with options for an event across adrenaline-fuelled activities including:  iFLY, Dive, High Ropes, Archery, Escape Rooms, Shooting, Snorkel and Climb – all under one roof.

The Shark Dive experience at The Bear Grylls Adventure is designed to educate, raise awareness and contribute to the urgent conservation of global shark populations, with a percentage of each Shark Dive experience sold at the attraction going towards the work done by The Shark Trust charity. The attraction’s important partnership with the charity both educates guests and supports further conservation projects.
