The Bear Grylls Adventure Reopens To The Public From 4th July 2020

  • Friday 26th June 2020
  • Coronavirus

The Bear Grylls Adventure will reopen to the public from Saturday 4th July for guests with pre-booked activities and experiences.

The majority of the Adventure Activity Centre’s indoor and outdoor activities will be once again open to visitors, giving guests the opportunity to try one of the many unique experiences on site. Visitors can tackle Europe’s tallest High Ropes, feel the rush of freefall in the iFLY Indoor Skydiving wind tunnel or try their hand at beating Bear Grylls’ record time on the Royal Marines-inspired Assault Course, to which each visitor has unlimited access during their visit.

The Cage Snorkel experience will also reopen from the 4th of July, giving those who take part a unique look into the attraction’s custom tropical tank. The Bear Grylls Adventure is home to almost 1,000 creatures, including Black Tip Reef Sharks, Nurse Sharks and Cownose Rays, all of whom have remained onsite throughout lockdown, cared for by a small team of dedicated Aquarists who have provided their individual food requirements and carefully monitored the water quality in order to keep them fit and healthy.

With reduced capacities on each activity to comply with Government social distancing guidelines, pre-booking your adventure direct online at beargryllsadventure.com will be key in being one of the first to return safely to The Bear Grylls Adventure on the 4th July. For those who may want to visit later in the year, activity gift vouchers are also available online at a 20% discount, which are valid for 12 months.

On arrival, visitors will see significant and reassuring new safety measures in place such as contactless temperature checking before entry, new routes around the attraction, new queuing formats, staff wearing PPE and enhanced cleaning, in alignment with Government guidelines.

General Manager Marc Bell says:

“We are thrilled to be reopening from the 4th of July, and the team have done an amazing job while we have been closed to ensure the new social distancing measures are in place across the attraction. We’re confident that we can offer the amazing adventure experience that we know our visitors love, in line with best practice advice on social distancing and hygiene. We can’t wait to reopen our doors and begin making memories with our guests again!”

Covid-secure processes in place

A number of key processes have been implemented to ensure visitor safety, including:

  • Social distancing will be applied across all areas of the attraction with modified group sizes and frequencies for each activity
  • Staff and Guest health screening will be taking place on site on arrival with a contactless temperature checker
  • Enhanced hand sanitisation stations requirements will be positioned across the attraction in key locations
  • Enhanced cleaning regimes in all common areas and for all shared equipment
  • Use of hygiene screens at all desks and till areas
  • Guests will be required to wear a face mask/covering in order to participate on a number of activities at the attraction. Limited exemptions apply. All face masks/coverings must be suitably secured to the person. All guests must bring a suitable face mask/covering with them.
  • The Bear Grylls Adventure guest facing staff will be equipped with PPE during guest interactions
  • We are encouraging our customers to use contactless payment whilst in the attraction.

The Bear Grylls Adventure is part of Merlin Entertainments, the world’s second-largest visitor attraction operator, and has been able to draw on experience from others in the group in order to deliver reopening with best practice. Nick Varney, Merlin Entertainments’ CEO, said:

We look forward to welcoming guests from across the UK back to our sites, just as we have done successfully across Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America. In each location, we have seen our guests embrace the ‘new normal’ and actively adhere to the new safety measures we have put in place. After the extended lockdown, we recognise that people need leisure and escapism and to make new happy memories with those they love. We look forward to helping them do just that.”

With holidays abroad still looking unlikely this year, The Bear Grylls Adventure is the perfect way to experience something new without ever having to leave the city. Just a few minutes’ walk from Birmingham International Train Station, and with activities suitable for guests aged 8 and up, adventure is right on the doorstep. - (www.beargryllsadventure.com)
