One of the world’s most successful darts players has turned to his survival skills at The Bear Grylls Adventure before he looks to achieve Premier League at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena this week.

James Wade, nicknamed ‘The Machine’ for his incredible consistency over the years, visited the popular venue at The NEC as part of the build-up for the sold out PDC event, experiencing a host of challenges including The Bear Grylls Adventure’s latest activity, Axe Throwing.

The 10-time major winning star, who recently reached number three in the world rankings, captured content for his Youtube channel Bullsite, which sees him and childhood friend Lee Spooner compete in a series of challenges.

The pair went head-to-head in the attraction’s iFLY Indoor Skydiving, Archery and Axe Throwing, with Wade looking to see if his darts skills would translate to some larger targets.

James said:

“Bullsite has gained a cult following, and we get loads of feedback saying that we should do more around the cities in which I play.

“The Bear Grylls Adventure seemed an ideal opportunity to do this, as it is perfect for our competitive nature, and I was pretty confident that archery was like a dart board with slightly different equipment!

“We loved the look of iFLY and as I don’t particularly like heights, it’s probably the closest I will ever get to the real thing! It was such brilliant fun, although I don’t think either of myself or Lee are going to make it into the Red Devils just yet.

“Our Bullsite channel is all about fun, and you cannot get a better place to have competitive fun than this – we loved it and we will be coming back next year if they will have us. We might even venture in to dive with the sharks!”.

The Bear Grylls Adventure Senior Marketing Manager Sarah Whittaker said:

“We’re always happy to welcome sports stars to the attraction, and we were delighted that James and Lee had an amazing day testing their aim and bringing out the inner warrior in them while getting ready for the big night! It’s great that they achieved something amazing in our iFLY tunnel; a dream they were able to achieve even with their fear of heights.

“James and Lee have loads of fun on their channel and, whilst competitive, are all about just enjoying themselves – that’s exactly our ethos here at The Bear Grylls Adventure.

“We will be cheering on James when he takes to the stage at the Utilita Arena tomorrow night, and if he wins the tournament, hopefully he will attribute some of his success to honing his skills here at our centre!”
