23 September 2022, Birmingham: Chief Scout, Bear Grylls today hosted a very special event honouring inspiring young people from across the UK at his The Bear Grylls Adventure at the NEC, in Birmingham.

The Unsung Heroes were recognised for their achievements saving lives, fundraising for others  or showing strength in adversity.

As well as meeting Bear Grylls, the Scouts got to bring with them their parents, carers, and other family members and try a range of activities at the centre such as Axe Throwing, iFLY Indoor Skydiving, High Ropes, and more.

The Scouts are recognised for doing remarkable things over the past year. It’s an opportunity to celeberate those who have gone above and beyond, demonstrated Scouting values or have supported their community.

Squirrel Scout – Marshall (aged 4)

Squirrel Scout Marshall  from Leeds recently put his new skills to the test when his mum fell down the stairs and needed medical help. Jacqui Osbourne (Marshall’s mum) said:

“I had never thought about teaching Marshall first aid at such a young age. I am so grateful to Squirrels for teaching him these skills. When I fell, Marshall knew exactly what to do: he acted quickly and was very calm. Squirrels has taught him important skills and I’m very thankful to them.”

Bear Grylls, Chief Scout said:

“I’m so proud of these remarkable young people - they have shown true grit, determination and a true never give up spirit. To me they’re all such deserving Unsung Heroes, who continue to use their skills, kindness and courage to help others. They’re an inspiration to me and everyone around them.’ .
