Are you ready for this? I thought to myself anxiously as I stuffed my bikini into my rucksack on the morning of my booking at the Bear Grylls Adventure. I'm a naturally anxious person but I'm also a thrill seeker and unsurprisingly these personal qualities don't always go well together. But on that morning, as I prepped myself, I knew I was more excited than nervous, after all I was about to experience something I'd never done before.

The cast of the hit new musical Unfortunate took a break from performances at Birmingham Hippodrome’s Patrick Studio and went ‘under the sea’ with a shark dive at the Bear Grylls Adventure.

Eco-Friendly Pupils Study Underwater Creatures
Pupils from Balsall Common Primary School's Eco-Club were the first children to take part in a special workshop at The Bear Grylls Experience at the NEC.
The children studied the aquarium, which holds over 1,000 sea creatures in 1,000,000 litres of water, including sting rays and sharks. They had a tour of the facilities and discussed their eco-friendly approach to keeping their animals healthy.

The Bear Grylls Adventure Celebrates 1st Birthday
To say thank you for the support over the last year, the first-of-its-kind adventure attraction is giving back to the Birmingham community by offering Brummies 50 per cent off some of their most heart stopping activities, including Target Archery, Indoor Climb, High Ropes, iFly Indoor Skydiving, Snorkel and Indoor Shooting.

Bear Grylls said: “The Bear Grylls Adventure has always been about feeling empowered to face your fears and reach your full potential. It’s shocking that so many young women stop partaking in sports when going through puberty due to the stigma attached, and it’s my hope that every girl who takes part in the Birmingham’s Toughest Girl challenge walks away feeling a little bit more confident in themselves”.

Thrills with Grylls: Bear Grylls Adventure in Birmingham will leave you feeling exhausted in the most satisfying way
I’m in a tank filled with one million litres of saltwater, surrounded by almost 1,000 types of fish, shark and ray.
Perhaps most surprisingly of all, I am in Birmingham.
It is thanks to Bear Grylls, of all people, that I am here.
His adventure park aims to challenge visitors, both physically and mentally, with an array of adrenaline-pumping challenges.
